Herman's Mind

Report by Crystal Ebba Lyngdoh and Akansha Gogoi

Herman’s Mind by Naki Howni Laloo (6th semester MCVP 2023) is a short film of a troubled man that showcase issues such as infidelity, alcoholism, mental illness and domestic abuse. The story revolves around a man who has done it all, a deranged man in a mental asylum, reliving his mistakes in his mind. The sanity in the insanity. Through this film, the filmmakers say that they hope to pass on powerful messages that they can only hope will be received by all who watch it. We truly do not know what goes on inside a person’s mind, everything we think we know about a person may be surface level. Life isn’t black and white, and whether or not it’s filled with morally grey areas, is debatable.

Students of 6th semester Damanpura Manik Syiem, Naki Howni Laloo, Crystal Ebba Lyngdoh, Sutapa Das Choudhary and Rishabh Singh Rajput students recently participated in the 12th Cut.in film festival hosted by Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai and their film Herman's Mind got selected for the screening along with that their film got nominated for 4 awards - best acting, best cinematography, best direction and best script.
