The media club on account of World Photography Day, 18 August 2023, had held a photo talk, were Sir. Anurag Banerjee was invited as a guest speaker.
Anurag Banerjee is known for his visual story telling skills, where he skillfully tells stories through a series of pictures. His works were published in the Indian Quarterly, Monocole Magazine, Nat Geo traveller, GQ India, Mumbai Mirror and others.
The session started at 3:00 pm afternoon in the executive conference hall where everyone was invited, regardless of their department. It was a one hour event but an hour was not really enough. The session ended with everyone mesmerized and inspired by how beautiful his photo documentaries were. The session continued on with the students asking questions not only about his documentary projects but also, how he got inspired to start his journey as a Photographer.
Along with the photo talk, there was also a photo exhibition which was displayed in the lobby of Wollaston Annex building. The pictures exhibited there were all the pictures taken by the participants of the online photo contest, which was held a few days before the Photo Talk and the winners were announced after the session ended.
The winners were given cash prizes, certificates and Nikon merchandise. Nikon was very generous in lending a helping hand in choosing the winners and proving us with the merchandise. The certificates and prizes were handed over to the winners by Sir. Anurag Banerjee and Miss. Balarina Nonglang (Nikon representative, Shillong province).
The first prize winner was Saljagring N Marak, the second runners up was Wanpher Marbaniang and the third runners up was Princhi Sonowal. The event ended with a pleasant tea time with the invited guests along with the students, where they freely interacted with Sir. Anurag Banerjee.
