This is a story of Ailad Kharnaior, an ordinary farmer from a small village known as ‘’Sohlapiar"
Ailad Kharnaior is a 49 years old farmer from sohlapiar he has been farming since he was a kid with his late father and when his father passed away he continued on his father legacy of farming and he has been farming for 30 years and he is a father of 9 children where 4 of them are boys and 5 of them are girls his youngest is a daughter who is just 3 years old so farming was profession he did in order to provide for his family
Ailad Kharnaior is a hardworking man with a passion to give his family a better life he would share his daily activity where he would shared his daily activity where he would wake up at 4 am everyday and then around 4:30am he used to go feed the pig in which is in another village which is a 15-20 minutes walk so he would walk there every morning and when he is done he would return back home and have tea and after he is done he would rest for a bit and continue on his activity band he would go to his farming place.
He would plant many crops and vegetables like cabbage ,tomato ,peas ,chilli, lettuce and many more and he would take care of these vegetables by giving them different types of medicines and he would work here every day till 5 or 6 evening then he would return back home to his family.
And when these vegetables or crop that he planned are fit for selling his daughter would sell them in her shop in sohlapiar which many times comes with its own flaw as the place is far so there is not that much customer and also since the people in that village are mostly farmer so there is a competition among them and since it is far people tend to go to a nearby place for their daily goods and to add on top of it they have to sell in such a low price so that people will take these vegetables so that these vegetables will not ripe out and they would have to throw it away. .
He also shared about the main struggle a farmer has to go through where
farming is a daunting task that comes with its own set of struggles and hardships. Where farmers face the constant challenge of dealing with unpredictable weather patterns, pests, and diseases that all threaten their crops and livestock. They are also impacted by fluctuations in the market price of their goods, which can significantly affect their income. In addition to these challenges, farmers often grapple with financial issues, such as high input costs, debt, and the need for modern farming technologies. Political instability and social issues add to their struggles. Furthermore, many farmers lack access to proper education, training, and resources, which limits their ability to improve their livelihoods and cope with the challenges they face. They also faced many struggle such as Market
competition: Farmers face stiff competition from other farmers at the market who
are selling similar types of vegetables. The price of their produce may be undercut,
meaning that they earn less than they had hoped Transportation costs: Transporting vegetables from farms to markets is a significant challenge for many farmers. They may lack access to suitable transportation means, or the cost of transporting the produce may be too high, resulting in reduced profits. Seasonal competition: At certain times of the year, vegetables are in abundant supply and prices may drop, leading to reduced income for farmers. Quality control: Quality control is critical when it comes to selling vegetables. Vegetables that arrive at the market or stores damaged or infected with pests or diseases are rejected, leading to losses for farmers.
Like other he is also a man with a weight on his shoulder where he talked about his financial problem and on top of it he talked about his youngest daughter health
condition where when she was just 6 months old she has a
whole in her hearth so they have to spend a lot of money from jumping from one doctor to another in order to cure her and also the medicine subscribe was very expensive and even though his daughter is cure now her immune system is still sensitive and she would get sick very often so he had to word a lot than before in order to provide for her medical need and on top of it some of his kids are still young so he have to balance between paying her medical fees and their education needs so its was difficult for him when his farming does not go as planned and the struggle of a small farmer in providing for his kids needs is often an uphill battle filled with numerous challenges and hardship as a farmer income is heavily reliant his agriculture endeavors which can be unpredictable due to factors such as weather, market fluctuation and crop failures.
And in the hustle and bustle of modern life it is easy to overlook the essential role that farmer plays in our society these unsung heroes work tirelessly to provide us with the nourishment our bodies needs to thrive they are the backbone of our food system its is an important profession that contribute to the economy and preserving the environment it is our duty to appreciate their hard work by supporting them and purchasing vegetables and crop directly from them and by buying them at a reasonal price and not at such a low price that will bring a loss to them so we can show our support to them.
