World Photography Day

World Photography Day, 19th of August, the Media club, organized a Photo Walk where students from all over the college were welcome to join.

Every year on World Photography Day, the Media Club always organizes

a Photo Walk where students are taken in and around the city or outside for a walk, and on their way they are asked to click pictures of the surroundings or things or subjects that they personally think are interesting or of those that piques their interests at best.

This year around, a group of 32 self-volunteered students was taken to David Scott's Trek Park and Mawphlang Sacred Forest. The bus started the journey at around seven o'clock in the morning , from the college, and ended at five-thirty in the evening.

On the way to the first location the bus was overflowing with cheers songs and dancers who were very excited and overjoyed. The bus then stopped midway for a washroom/snack break. Continuing the journey, we get down at the entrance of David Scott's Treck, where the group was divided into three, Each group had a Captain and the three captains contacted each other through walkie-talkies.

After tracking half of the path, we stopped by a river side where everyone took off their shoes and dipped their tired feet inside the calm waters. A while later, when everyone was done playing with the waters, homemade lunches were laid out, silence fell and the soothing sounds of the river took over as everyone began eating.

After lunch, the trek continued but this time we had to return, Walking back we realised that coming down the hill towards the river was way easier than returning towards the entrance. Slowly everyone made their way to the beginning of the trek, and by this time most of them had already decided to stay back in the bus, and not continue another awaiting journey to the Sacred Forest of Mawphlang.

But on reaching there, everyone was intrigued and interested in knowing more about the forest, because it was very uniquely described by the tour guide. It was like magic how everyone's tiredness disappeared as we entered the forest.

The walk through the tall pine trees and other interesting natural creations, accompanied by the sounds of soft ruffling sounds of the leaves and the crackling sounds of the crickets, felt very refreshing and therapeutic. To add more to the experience, the tour guide beautifully described and informed us about every location, landmark, and tree with such clarity.

After the forest tour, we were taken to the viewpoint where the view was beyond beautiful, this was our last checkpoint after which we made our way towards the bus.

It is obvious that after all that trekking, one is expected to sit quietly and enjoy the bus ride back, Surprisingly the group had a lot of energy left and everyone including the teachers, jammed and danced to the beats that were played.
